Subject: Every Hero Needs A Sidekick

Body: After all, how many times does the dashing hero get into trouble and need help to save the day?

In real life, it’s usually not that dramatic.  Usually.

But for XXXX, it was.

DDDD was in a shelter.  You may not know this, but shelter kill rates are sickeningly high.  Especially for dogs like DDDD.  So when the Dog Rescue team found a foster for DDDD, it literally saved his life.

If saving a life doesn’t make you a hero, what does?

DDDD’s foster loved on him and worked with him to get ready for a family.  When XXXX was matched with DDDD, it was true love. They walked together, played together, and snuggled together.

DDDD loved XXXX with his whole heart, and XXXX loved him right back.

But XXXX had some health problems.  DDDD was gentle with XXXX and kept an eye on him.  One night, deep in the dark hours, XXXX had a medical emergency.

And DDDD was the only one who knew.

DDDD barked and barked and woke everyone.  XXXX’s family called an ambulance and XXXX was taken to the hospital.  They say that if it weren’t for DDDD, XXXX would have died.  DDDD is their hero.

So it starts with a hero foster who saved DDDD.   And DDDD became a hero, too.

Dog Rescue hears about Malinois in shelters every day.  These are amazing dogs.  Smart.  Loving.  Energetic.  Some have sport potential.  Some are good family dogs.  A few can be working dogs.  But Dog Rescue can’t help any of them unless they have a foster hero standing by.

So, I have to ask... are you hiding your secret identity?  Could you be a hero?  Because the time is now.

This [insert hyperlink] will take you to the foster application.  Where the adventure goes from there... that depends on you.

Subject:  Your Malinois would do anything for you.

Body:  What would you do for them?  My guess, the answer is anything.  After all, they give back just as much love and loyalty.

Whatever your “anything” is, I’m going to ask you to do more.

You’ve heard about backyard breeders and overcrowding in the shelters.  You’ve heard about families buying them and dumping them when the puppy phase is passed.  You probably are concerned about what will happen as they are popularized in movies.

We’re worried, too.

Dog Rescue has been working hard to place Malinois in appropriate homes.  This is an intensive process, and it’s done entirely by volunteers.

It’s heartbreaking how many of these beautiful, intelligent, athletic dogs are in high-kill shelters.

It’s terrible to know that a dog with the potential to be someone’s once-in-a-lifetime will be destroyed because it went to the wrong home.  Or because a loving owner got ill, died, or had a tragedy in their life.

Complaining about the crisis doesn’t do any good.  But there is something you can do, that we desperately need—

You can foster.

Our current foster network is saturated, and we simply can’t rescue any more dogs.  That hasn’t slowed the pleas from shelters.  The demand continues to surge, and we don’t think we have seen the peak of the wave yet.

So, I’m asking, please consider being a foster.

It’s a huge commitment.

We’ll ask you to train them.  To evaluate them. To help them recover from a difficult past and prepare for their forever family.

We have always quietly asked our followers to consider becoming a foster.  We are asking directly now because the need is so great.

It’s not an easy job, but it is incredibly rewarding.  You’ll be saving a life, and have all the adventure of helping your foster find a forever home.  You’ll bring tremendous joy to the family that adopts.  You will be doing a service to the breed you love.

Fostering is a serious undertaking.  Please talk to your family and consider your home and schedule.  And if you think you are up to the challenge, contact us at [insert hyperlink].

Sincerely,

XXX  XXXX

Dog Rescue

P.S.  You may not be able to foster right now, and we understand. If you aren’t able to foster, please consider being a transporter, making a donation, or giving a gift of supplies to our angel network at [insert hyperlink].  Let’s give these incredible dogs the best chance we can.
