GoFundMe Campaign appeal.
Will you answer Mom XXXX’s prayer?
You may know Mrs. XXXX. She might have helped you out when you were going through a hard time, because that’s what she loved most— helping people. Just like you.
Now she needs your help.
XXXX XXXX was 90 years young last year, when an erratic driver caused an accident that put her in the hospital. Through her faith in God, the support of her family, and her own perseverance, she made it back home. It wasn’t easy. She was in the hospital for days, and endured months of physical therapy. She is still much weaker than she was before the accident.
XXXX used to live upstairs in her daughter’s home. She had her own room and sitting area— a space filled with photos, crocheted blankets, and small gifts that gave her joy and help her remember her family who have passed.
It’s still there, but she is too weak to climb the stairs. So she sits in her wheelchair at the bottom of the stairs. That staircase used to be the gateway to her memories. Now it’s an impassable barrier.
Her family has tried to step up and fill in the gaps for her. They put her bed, wheelchair, and walker in the living room. They sit with her. They bring her things to look at. But they can’t bring her back her independence, the dignity of privacy, or her choice of which precious memory she wants to visit each day.
But you can.
Mrs. XXXX’s doctor said that if the family could install a motorized stair chair, she could go back to her room upstairs. Can you imagine? To sit right at the bottom of the stairs, looking up at the room where all your most cherished moments are waiting for you? And to feel the sadness take over that they may be lost forever?
XXXX’s family has saved and saved, but the chair their doctor recommended is expensive— about $12,000 to install. XXXX XXXX spent her whole life helping others, and her family is asking you to help her, too.
People like XXXX seem like angels. She raised six childen, then adopted a seventh. Four of them grew up to be ministers in the church. She devotedly cared for her husband (a former WWII veteran and DAV member--now deceased) as his health failed. And she tended to her community.
Maybe you were one of the folks who was hard up and she brought you into her home. Maybe you ate a meal she cooked for the church. Or maybe you were one of the souls who felt the peace of her spirit when she answered your call on the prayer line.
XXXX XXXX is a beautiful, gentle soul who spent her life blessing others. And she needs your prayers and blessing, however small. That’s why her family is asking you to give any amount to help them install this lift-chair for their mother.
Your gift makes a miracle possible—it helps XXXX XXXX touch the keepsakes that carry her back to the happiest times in her life. Just think about it— $20 could help XXXX hold the last photo of her sisters. If you give a little more, it could help her rest peacefully in her own bed. If you can only spare $10, it still helps.
XXXX and her family thank you for what you can do. Please help answer their prayers by donating today. Any gift you can make is a gift of love.
